Joseph Hall (1 Juli 1574 – 8 September 1656) adalah seorang uskup Inggris, satiris dan moralis. Orang-orang sezamannya mengenalnya sebagai seorang penulis yang setia, dan seorang kontroversialis terkenal di awal tahun 1640-an. Dalam politik gereja, ia justru cenderung ke jalan tengah.

Thomas Fuller menulis:^[1]

Dia biasa dipanggil Seneca Inggris kami, karena gayanya yang murni, polos, dan lengkap. Tidak kecewa pada Kontroversi, lebih senang pada Komentar, sangat baik dalam Karakternya, lebih baik dalam Khotbahnya, terbaik dalam Meditasinya.

Hubungan Hall dengan stoikisme zaman klasik, yang dicontohkan oleh Seneca Muda, masih diperdebatkan, dengan arti neo-stoikisme dan pengaruh filsuf Flanders Justus Lipsius terhadap karyanya yang diperebutkan, berbeda dengan moralitas Kristen.^[2]
