Buaya moncong-ramping afrika tengah (Mecistops leptorhynchus) adalah salah satu dari dua spesies buaya pada genus Mecistops. Awalnya spesies ini dianggap sebagai populasi buaya moncong-ramping afrika barat (M. cataphractus), tetapi dijadikan spesiesnya sendiri setelah dua studi mendetail, satu pada tahun 2014, satunya lagi pada 2018.^[5][3]
